In the renewing designation of many history districts, the trend of commercialization is revealed. Many solid facts show, that commercialization is an effective protection mode for history districts. And experience economy, a conception closely related with commercial success, reveals the booming of the experience design for the commercialization of history districts, which is based and leveraged on experience economy.This paper analyzes the emerging background and driver of the history districts commercialization, and points out some problems. And then introduces the conception of experience economy and design, and at the same time analyzes their influence on the history districts commercialization and forms theoretical base of this paper.Then the paper summarizes the main principles and target of experience design, and analyzes the history district's main factor of commercial renewal design (topic, function, the appearance control and the activity planning) under the experience economy In the end, the theory of experience design in the commercialization is explained with the practice such as Shanghai New WorldUntil now there is no mature theory framework formed yet, during the utilization of experience design in history districts commercialization mostly is rooted from spontaneity and unconsciousness, and it is still in lack of theoretical support and guidance. Experience design is not a fashion tag, but is an integral design mode and dynamic realization process with the saturation to every corner of districts.
