The information integration in the design process is one key aspect of the machinery manufacture enterprise's information integration. The product design is a very complicated system engineering, which is always limited by the designer's specialized knowledge and experiences, the technical methods and supplementary tools, and is also regulated by the national law and the government and guild standards. The enterprise's resources and environment also limit the design. As a result, the designers need grasp amounts of useful information related to the enterprise and society, which will benefit to explore the product satisfying the market very much. The enterprise's design regulations, production and business plan, and manufacture steps depend largely on the data from the product design. In additional, the data is also one of most important and basic documents for the machinery manufacturing. The information from the management and production is very important reference for the product exploration and the design modification. Thus, the information integration in the process of the product exploration and design can be divided into two parts: (1) It can supply some usual search method for the products and designers on the basis of the specialized knowledge, data and information network. Also, it can be used to establish the open integration system task-oriented, process-oriented and object-oriented to improve the design efficiency and standard. (2) Based on the professional design software, database and network, it can be used to explore interface programs and visible interfaces in order to share data in design, production and management, and to improve the precision and criterion of the information data. As a result, the system will be run in the intranet efficiently. This research selected is based on the review of the current informationized status of the mostly domestic enterprises, especially the newest development of the domestic machinery manufacturing, and up-to-date achievements of some advanced countries. An open information integration system in the design process (DPIS) is presented, which includes five models: product design CAD system, product database system, integration system in design process, management system of resources and remote cooperation and search system. The DPIS can make the control and resources to be utilized reasonably through the information integration in design process, and handle the technical documents intensively through the management of design resources. Moreover, the DPIS can integrate the management, resources and information of product devise, and make the devise more standard and efficient through the integration of CAD system of product design, product database system and remote accessing information system of other departments of the enterprise. The DPIS includes the integration of internal functional models and some exterior systems. Under the integrated frame of CIMS and the environments of heterogeneous and distributed databases, the integration of the information, function and process has been completed in the internal applied systems of enterprise. In this study, the integration system in design process and resources is completed, which can be used to manage and search information, and run in the intranet efficiently. It should be noted that the idea and method related to the design are also very valuable. Some conclusions are as follow: (1) The information integration system is an adaptable system of multiple input and output oriented, practical production oriented, and integration and dynamic oriented. This system can be developed originally to two directions: One goes up and becomes an important part of MRP, and supplies the technical materials for MRPII. The other goes down and supplies product data for CAPP,CAD and CAM. (2) The architecture, functional modeling and its function of the information integration system based on the idea in design process have been presented. In additional, the software and hardware environments have also been established in the practical applied system. (3) After analysis of a great many references on the integrated information and database management, the practical needs are summarized, and the whole structure, executable project and key technology are also presented in design process. (4) For the application and exploration of software, the advanced design method object-oriented used to explore and optimize program, can make the program maintain and upgrade easily, and make users handle more friendly, intuitive and convenient. (5) The query, deletion and modification of information have been completed in the integration system of design process and resources. The system has many advantages such as simple handle, efficient search and intuitive searching process. (6) For the operation of databases, the customers'program interface is finished using ODBS, which can be applied in both single computer mode and network mode. The interface can also make customers share information farthest and administrate authorized, which is based on the environments of networks and distributed database systems. (7) The information integration system and its excellent integration, interface and encapsulation with the exterior information system can make databases more abundant and practicable, which will supply more service for the enterprise's production. With the emergence of computer and network technology together with the other advanced technology such as integrated and agile manufacturing etc., the integrated information are becoming more and more important. Besides CAD and CAM, DPIS can also integrate with the manufacturing automation, management information system and quality control test system. In a word, the establishment of information integration system in design process is very important.
