Maglev train has been put into practice successfully which act as a new ground transit system. Due to the inherent nonlinearities and instability of the electromagnetic suspension(EMS) system, control of its stability is accomplished either through analog controllers or by using digital controllers.In this paper, the nonlinear dynamic mathematic model of single magnetic levitation system(SMLS) is set up, and two linear mathematic models of SMLS are designed through the methods of linearizing the equilibrium point and feedback linearization. The author gets the state function and transfer function of the system. On the basis of the mathematic model, the controllability and observeability are analyzed, designed the several kinds of controller including linear states feedback controller, model reference adaptive systems and the nonlinear feedback linearizing controller. Some method and design steps of the controller are given. Simulations are made to the controllers, features and performance of each controller are gotten. Feasibility of each controller is analyzed. After the theory analysis of the magnetic suspension system, depending on the request of the digital control, a controller is designed using the digital signal processor(DSP) TMS320F2812. Its functions include signal's sampling, signal processing and operating result's output, etc. It is bare out through the experiment that the SMLS's stable suspension can be obtained by using the digital controller metioned above.
