Abstract/Summary:
The topic of this thesis is high-performance induction motor speed control. It presents the application of a novel nonlinear controller to the model of the induction machine. This controller utilizes exact feedback linearization with state and state derivative feedback, and it can be used for either speed or position control. First, a literature survey relative to the thesis subject is conducted and the induction motor model is derived. After this, the novel speed/position controllers are derived, presenting at the same time the theoretical background relative to their derivation. An error analysis is conducted, which proves the control scheme to be robust with respect to parameter deviation and parameter uncertainty. Some preliminary results on the system stability are also included. The thesis presents also the application of the novel control strategy for current control and confirms the applicability of the controller to already established sensorless control schemes. The controller discrete-time forms are derived, which lead to the final part of this work, which is the experimental validation of the derived control strategies. The experimental results prove the high-performance of the induction motor controller.
