As a kind of reciprocating pump, Electronic Diaphragmatic Metering Pump (EDMP) has a high research value, owing to much attention paid to it by increasingly many manufactures. It has very wide applications in industries such as chemical, petrochemistry, grocery, pharmacy, plastic and paper making. However, EDMP is only as a kind of products of domestic manufactures. Lack of successional development leads to that our products in kinds and control patterns lag behind the up-to-date development.Aiming at this situation, a new designing method for the drive system of metering pump is proposed in this thesis, based on the EDMP of LMI series produced by MILTON ROY. Adopting pistonpump with fixed stroke adjusted by mechanic equipment, the piston directly drives the diaphragm. The flow capacity of the pump is adjustable in variable frequency mode. With a simple structure, this new type of metering pump is convenient for maintenance and repair. In this thesis, the EDMP is comprehensively developed and designed. The major works in this thesis are summarized as follows:(1)The parameters of the electromagnetic actuator are calculated by the magnetic circuit method and the FEM software ANSOFT. Further, the static magnetic field distribution of the actuator is analyzed.(2)The static characteristic of the electromagnetic actuator is analyzed by the FEM software Maxwell 2D. The spring force is designed on the basis of the static characteristic.(3)The dynamic operating process is simulated and analyzed by Maxwell 2D/Transient software. Besides, the dynamic simulation model is built up under the circumstances of MATLAB/Simulink so that the dynamic characteristics of the pumpmay be simulated.(4)The control circuit of EDMP is designed according to its performance requirements and the dynamic characteristics of the EDMP.
