This article primarily introduces the structure of Switched Reluctance Drive (SRD) system and its development at home and abroad. The characteristics of Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) and its electro-magnetics principle are described in details. The variation of SRM winding current in different stages and the formula of toque and power are also analyzed in it. The control method, the design theories and ways of controller, power converter and adjuster are studied in this paper. According to SRD's main technical requirements and SRM's raw data, the hardware of the controller is designed. PI adjuster and pulse-width modulation of the controller are constructed by hardware in order to realize the speed close-loop regulation of the whole system. Microprocessor AT89C51is selected to be the main control unit. According to the running direction requirement and the signal of motor rotor position sensor, the microprocessor can produce on/off signals to control the MOSFET by combining with protection signals. The control software is implemented by the modular program which can make the program more universal and readable. Results of the sample machine's experiments show that the controller can completely meet the technical requirements.The SRM controller designed in this paper has many advantages such as rapid response speed, real-time regulation and so on. So it can also be used in the high-speed motor. By using the PWM control and adopting the common voltage-regulation switch to control the supply voltage average value of each phase winding, the controller has the DC motor speed regulation characteristic.
