A systematic study is made on the torsional vibration of the mechanical-electrical systemwhen certain electrical faults occurred. In this dissertation, the contribution include: 1.Analysised the faults inducing torsional vibration, excitation current losing especially, and made a diagnostic program. 2. Established a mathematical model of the mechanical-electrical system for the analysisof the turbine-generator shaft using Riccati transfer matrix method and Newmark-βequation. 3.A digital simulation model of the stress and fatigue monitoring system is created, which can predict the shaft life reduced by electrical and thermal disturbance and providebasic information for condition based maintenance. 4.All the model and method established have been applied on the 300MW turbinegenerator shafts in Zhang Jia Kou power plant and acquired acceptable results. 5.Presented a mechanical-electrical simulation madol.
