In this paper, the torsional vibration characteristic of the East 300 MW steam turbine generator simulator shaft is the main object of studying. Firstly, a model of multi-mass is set up for the simulator shaft segment, which analysis the inherent characteristics of torsional vibration of shaft with the improved Riccati transfer matrix method to obtain the natural frequencies and mode shapes, and compared with the experimental results proves that the oritical calculations and experimental analysis is corresponding. Second, the mathematical model of concentrated mass of the rotor shaft is established based on multi-segment lumped mass model research the dynamic characteristics of shaft torsional vibration, and the dynamic equations of torsional vibration are derived. We derive the torsional vibration response of turbo-generator rotor shaft under the impact of power grid with the combination of Riccati transfer matrix method and Newmark-β, and analysis the time-frequency domain curves of torsional vibration angular on three kinds of operating conditions.
