Research On The Planning Of Ecoparks In Municipal Vicinities

Since the 90's of the last century, the urbanization in our country has come into a quick growth period of time. The newly urbanized areas, because of their location advantages of being close to big cites or called the fringe effect of big cities, become the most active and vital economic areas around the big cities. However, the rapid urbanization comes with a series of economic, social and ecosystem environmental challenges in municipal vicinities. These challenges become a major bottleneck in the further development of the big cites. How to face and solve these challenges is a new and urgent issue in keeping continuing development of the big cites.In this paper, the functional characteristics, major advantages and disadvantages of municipal vicinities are analyzed. Based on the analysis, the ideas of building the ecoparks and developing municipal vicinities with an ecosystem environment are presented as a new approach to solving these economic, social and ecosystem environmental challenges. Directed by the theories of sustainable development, city ecology, landscape ecology, ecosystem economics and city agriculture, the ideas include the general ideas, principles, approaches, planning procedures and methods of the green ecosystem in the city park planning. As an example of applying these ideas, the ecoparks planning of Peking Zhongguancun Science Park is studied in detail.This research shows that by following the systematic combination of production, life and ecosystem, the three interests of economy, society and ecosystem could be harmonized in the development of the city ecosparks planning. The ideas are new in theory and feasible in practice. They could be used as a guideline in the development of municipal vicinities with the aim at keeping municipal vicinities on sustainable development.
