With the development of bridge engineering construction, the continuous rigid frame bridges develop rapidly because of use widely and grow towards long span and flexibility. It makes the analysis of the stability and temperature more important. But the Code revised in 1980s dose not tell any ways to calculate the flexibly high piers. So it is necessary to study .Firstly, the stability of flexibly high pier is studied by connect with the Xiaoguan bridge and the Goupitan bridge. By compared with stability of frames, the calculating formula for the flexibly high piers of the continuous rigid frame bridge is educed and the way to calculate the parameter of the formula is told. The stability capability of the different sections of the piers is compared by calculating these bridges. Secondly, the formulas for calculating inner force of the continuous rigid frame bridge are educed under the condition of uniform temperature change. Some conclusions for the design of the bridge are drawn out by comparing with the effect of the different sections and parameters of the piers on inner force, which can be referred to by designers. Finally, the optimal design of the parameter of the continuous rigid frame bridge is studied. An objective function is built according to bidding. By adopting the non-linear programming theory, a optimal design model is offered and an example is analyzed by using the optimal design program written specially for it. The use of the non-linear programming theory prove to be feasible and the optimal design program written specially prove to be correct and useful.
