Towards New Residential Community

This paper focus on the problems of community development in Bejing, and indicates thatmore attention should be put on city block development. For much of them were caused bycommunity development problem, crowding traffic, planning behind, inconveniencing livinginstallations, and etc.. And all these problems result from the singleness of community mode . There are five chapters in this paper, each contribute a part work to the final conclusion.Chapter one gives out some concepts, neighborhood, unit, community and block. By comparing andanalyzing of them, community modality must be of individuality and multiformity is broughtforward. Chapter two introduces the status quo and studies of the development of town communitiesin Beijing or other cities in China, together with the study of oversea communities in USA, Japan,German and etc., then summarization of reference is gotten. By analyzing the status quo of thedevelopment of community in Beijing, Chapter three gives some suggestion on practical problems intoday's community that affects the construction of block form. Chapter four points out theimportance of strengthen the development of city blocks of community in old town and newtown.And works on how to use city block to construct a community network, a new community,until a international metropolics. In the end, chapter five , by introducing the design practices of community projects inBeijing, this paper discusses the probability of application of city blocks. Consider the aspect of thecommunity modality, the designer strived to stand out the networklization and complex of cityblock's function, and achieved opening of city block space and multiformity of city block layout.
