The Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) is one of the most enterprising realizations of the idea of Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS). Having the ability of controlling most of the basic power system parameters, UPFC can flexibly adjust the real and reactive power through the transmission line, damp the oscillation, and enhance the stability of power system and so on. These characters make UPFC the most desirable control device in AC transmission system.In this paper, we presented the development and actuality of UPFC, which include the control methodology and its influence on power system operation, and powerful function of the digital signals processor of TMS320LF2407 at first. After analyzing the basic principle of UPFC and the principle of SPWM by which can validly restrain humorous wave, and then the control methods are designed. Furthermore, a program flow chart and its implementation are given based on DSP.At the same time, this paper also designed and composed the main structure circuits whose center ports of an apparatus are mainly constituted by IGBT, the control circuits whose center ports of an apparatus are mainly constituted by the digital signals processor of TMS320LF2407, and the program whose center matter is SPWM with the circuits and software. The IGBT of GT40T301 has rapid on-off speed , low open-form voltage, high bearing voltage and big bearing current and so on strongpoint. The DSP of TMS320LF2407 has flexible instructions, rapid perform speed, and high reliability and so on strongpoint. It's control effect is better than which use SCM.A tentative UPFC device is build up and lots of experiments including collection data, scaling frequency, outputting SPWM wave from TMS320LF2407, outputting SPWM wave from drive circuit, outputting commutated wave from the first convertor, outputting wave from the second convertor or with filter and so on, prove the feasibility of the device that establishes the rationality of the design idea. All that will afford technique help and experiment flat roof in order to further research of UPFC.
