Some Issues About The Planning And The Evaluation Of The Residential Area On The South Side Of The Qiantang River

On the moment when the new century has replaced the old, the city of Hangzhou is now developing the areas along the Qiantang River, in order to expand the the urban space. The Era of Qiantang has come, which has provided the special background for the residential area on the south side of the river. Compared with the space on the north side, the district can be more spatial, more convenient, better in landscape and therefore more likely to be improved. The look of this urban area will be a portrait of a developing Hangzhou.Chapter 1 of the thesis pointed out the characteristics of this project, based upon the fundamental theories of planning. In the following chapter the thesis analyzed example of the "Water Town for Tour" and presented the detailed content of the planning. Chapter 3 evaluated the project of the residential area on the south bank of Qiantang River. In Chapter 4, as a example, the "Water Town for Tour" was once again be analyzed and all the competition designs evaluated. In the last part of the thesis some thoughts were given to the development of this district.A successful project should be successful in many aspects, from the procedure, the investment, the budget, the usage of the land to the considerate planning, the creative architectural and environmental design. The thesis can be a reference for the other areas on the south side of the Qiantang River.
