Concrete gravity dams are built widely because of lots of advantages. Usually, they are constructed in area of earthquake and high intensity. Once the dams were destroyed, the loss would be huge. So analyzing the earthquake response of gravity dams is very significant.Response of concrete gravity dams to earthquake excitations are carried out with three methods in this paper, in order to obtain the concrete gravity dam's actual displacement and stress status. The three methods are quasi static method, response spectrum method and time history method. At the same time, the paper compares three methods with examination result. At last, some reference advice can be given to the designer. Different methods show the similar results that the heel and head of gravity dams are weak parts to earthquake excitations. Response spectrum results are closer to fact contrasting to quasi static method. Time history analysis results are similar to actual response to earthquake. These laws can be used as the basis of seismic analysis of this gravity dam and is useful for directing seismic response analysis of such dams.
