Structures are brought varied breakages after earthquakes' out-break.The seismic study of buildings sometimes bases on the structural destroyed phenomena.The collapse and the X-style crack of the building can be due to the horizontal seismic component action.The horizontal annular and vertical crack of the high buildings,along with the horizontal crack and the crush of RC column can be due to the vertical seismic component action.But the reasons of some structural destroyed phenomena,such as some structual mid-floor been pressed down meanwhile the buildings been not collapsed and some upper-floors of one building been side-moved,can not been perfect discoveried which are been widely attented by engineers and theorists.The earthquake is a complex and multi-directional process that the coupling of the six seismic components is exsisted no matter how large the seism is.In an earthquake, the time that the structures response most fiercely that people always feeled is not the first time that the seismic P-wave arrived,it is the following time that the S-wave and the surface wave arrived.Based on the most documents which are only recorded two horizontal and one vertical components of the earthquakes,this paper studied the response of three frame structure under the vertical seismic excitation coupling the horizontal seismic component.The key works of this paper included followings:1.Simplifies the spatial frame structures to plane frame structures,analyses theirs free vibration characters in plane and theirs time history response that are subjected to the horizontal and vertical seismic excitation at the same time.2.Analyses the simplified structures' elastic-plastic time history response that are subjected vertical seismic component coupling horizontal component at different time.3.Subjected to the vertical and horizontal seismic component at the same time,which the vertical component is the same and the horizontal components' peak acceleration are different, analyse how the different horizontal seismic component affects the stuctual vertical seismic response..
