Research On Design Of Retractable Roof Structures

Retractable roof structure lets building have indoor and outdoor using functions. It is so wildly used in modern sport facilities. There are tens of retractable roof buildings constructed in the world. They have brought about considerable social and economical benefits. These typical realized retractable roof buildings provide us with great references to further research.The research of retractable roof structures is only at the beginning in China. Although there are some small scales of retractable buildings, there are still short of systemic and theoretical guides. With the development of the economy and technology, the requirements of the retractable buildings grow rapidly. Undoubtedly, it is very urgent to do research on the subject.This paper introduces the detail information in structural design through a real structure under this technical background. The dissertation is divided into three parts:Part one: A summary of retractable roof is presented. In this part, the concepts, the development and the classifications in different points of view of the retractable roof structure are concluded. The retracting theories may be of some benefits to the design of retractable roof structures.Part two: The whole design process and some considerations should be take are discussed from architecture and structure in detail. The causes of accidents and all kinds of factors effecting the building's safety are analyzed, the primary means of solving the safety problems are outlined which have instructive significance in design of retractable roof structures.Part three: This part shows how to design a retractable roof through a real structure of the retractable roof in Dragon Sports Center. The detail information in structural design and key joint design is great value in design of retractable roof structures.
