Returning to the nature has become an important tendency of gyms and stadia and kinds of cultural constructions with society's progress. And retractable roof structure is a product which fairly combines people expecting sunshine and sky, the new theory and the new technology. It is also a centerpiece of construction, structure, machine and control. Retractable roof structure becomes an example that is widely used in the field of civil engineering.The research of retractable roof structures is only at the beginning in China. Although there are some small scales of retractable buildings, there are still short of systemic and theoretical guides. With the development of the economy and technology, the requirements of the retractable buildings grow rapidly. Undoubtedly, it is very urgent to do research on the subject.This paper introduces the detail information in structural design through use for reference the data of retractable roof in Dragon Sports Center. The dissertation is divided into four parts:Part one: A summary of retractable roof is presented. In this part, the concepts, the development and the classifications in different points of view of the retractable roof structure are concluded.Part two: The whole design process and some considerations should be take are discussed from architecture and structure in detail.Part three: It is introduced the research development and basic character of the pneumatic membrane structure and systemically settle the pneumatic membrane structure's no-linear analyse theory.Part four: This part shows comparing two kinds of structural project through a real structure of a retractable roof of Tennis Court, analyzing the characteristics of each structure.
