A Study On An Ancient Town Of Yangloudong Of Chibi In Hubei Province

This paper is about the study of an ancient town in Hubei. We especially focus our attention on the case of Yangloudong. We reveal the distinct comprehensive value of past and present. Furthermore, we provide some ideas to protect and use this invaluable resource.We organize the paper into seven chapters. We introduce the main content in the Chapter 1. From Chapter 2-7, we discuss it separately and deeply. The arrangement in details is as follows.In Chapter 1, we propose the main results and methods.In Chapter 2, we firstly introduce the background of Yangloudong. This ancient town developed with the production and trade of tea. Based on it, we explain the key factor of tea into the formation of the architectures.In Chapter 3, we investigate the natural, economic and cultural environment of the town, the construction fashion and the arrangement of streets, then argue that the district accrue to the river which heavily influence the commercial development.In Chapter 4, we analyze the characterization of streets. After the discussion of the interface of street one by one, we argue that such structure is adaptive for residenceIn Chapter 5, we classify each of the buildings (mainly the residential houses) by their characterization. Further, we analyze the environment effect on the formation of streets. Especially, we focus attention on some regionally distinct factors, such as courtyard, Tiandou and Liangdou, and reveal the charming of the architecture.In Chapter 6, we propose some principals for the usage and protection of streets in Yangloudong. As we state, short of money is the main challenge. Hence we suggest the development of tour should be the prior to stimulate the block economy.In Chapter 7, we conclude our research results and provide some comparative analysis with other architecture designs. It also gives some hints for future research on Yangloudong.Yangloudong of Chibi is located at the bank of Changjiang River. It absorbs various culture and customs to form a typical town that reflects the comprehensive situation in Hubei during the Ming and Qing Dynasty. This paper investigates the streets of Yangloudong systematically and testifies the necessarily for protecting it as civilized legacy. Meanwhile, we construct the strong theoretic basis for the future research.
