With the environmental problems in the world become more and more serious, the research on Green Manufacturing (GM) and its relevant problems has been increasingly paid attention to. As an important part of Green Manufacturing, Product Life Cycle Assessment (PLCA) will play an essential role on implementing Green Manufacturing.At first, the background and meaning of the research were introduced. The relation between PLCA and GM was analyzed. The goal of studying PLCA was pointed out. And the state-of-art of GM and PLCA was expounded.Then, the concept and development of PLCA were discussed in detail. Its technological frame from International Standard Organization (ISO) was analyzed. Its methodology was deep debated about, and its main use and existing problem were pointed out.And then, several key technologies about PLCA were studied. (1) The modeling of the product system was proposed. In terms of the whole life cycle of the product, the concept and model of the product system were defined. And the structure model, function model and information model of the product system were set up using Unified Model Language (UML). Meanwhile, the modeling process at a certain stage of the product system was described. (2) The inventory analysis was proposed. The general process about the inventory analysis was brought out. The inventory analysis based on unit module was put forward, which was realized according to the principle of Gauss eliminations. (3) The impact assessment was proposed. The general rule and content of impact assessment's index system was confirmed. The general process about the impact assessment was brought out, and its computed method about impact assessment was put forward. (4) The system integration was proposed. The integration frame between PLCA and PDM system was brought forward. And the feasibility of their integration from way and data was analyzed.Moreover, the developed prototype system P_LCA1.0 was introduced minutely. The architecture, characteristic, function of P_LCA1.0 was discussed. The key technologies of the system, including the function of "CHECK", the development course of four figure modeling tools and three databases to support the system, were discussed. An intact product life cycle assessment was finally demonstrated through P_LCA1.0.At last, as an example of the 4135G diesel engine, an intact PLCA research was enforced. The goal and scope definition was confirmed, and a series of the assumed conditions was put forward. On the basis of the assumed conditions, the inventory analysis and impact assessment were implemented. And the proper interpretation and analysis of the result was carried out.
