The DISCO CVT is the most popular product at present on the universal CVT market, and its constant power type holds the disadvantages of bad compression characteristic, great sliding rate and low efficiency when outputting with low speed. So a new-type DISCO CVT based on low sliding rate and constant power is presented and researched in this paper.First, the transmission principle and structure of the DISCO CVT is introduced, and the conclusion that the factual compression characteristic of current constant power type is in contradiction to the needed is obtained by throwing analysis on its motion and force received. The calculation formulas on geometric sliding rate of the DISCO CVT are derived, and the numerical calculation method on sliding rate is put forward with a accurate solution program. The related parameters are confirmed through analyzing geometric sliding rate of planetary disk with curve generatrix.In order to get better compression characteristic and good ratio control performance, the compression characteristic and ratio control mechanism of the DISCO CVT based on constant power are improved.the shape modification of planetary disk has been made, and based on the numerical calculation, taking the lowest sliding rate and the lightest contact stress as targets when outputting with lowest speed, the multi-target optimization model is built. And the modification parameters are achieved by virtue of the optimization result. Based on the optimization result,the sliding rate of different planetary disks is worked out, and the effect of modification depressing the sliding rate is confirmed.Specific structure design, 3D modeling, virtual assembly and finite element analysis (FEA) on chief parts of the new-type DISCO CVT based on low sliding rate and constant power are finished successfully.Finally, the prototype of the new-type DISCO CVT based on low sliding rate and constant power is trial-manufactured.
