The CAD technology is deeply progressing to the integration, intelligence and collaboration, this trend makes it be used widely, and it has become network CAD that supports cooperative designing, remote designing and information share. With the developement of manufacturing informatization, many enterprises have established CAD software environment platform, and evident effect has been achieved by applying the CAD software to design, analyze the product However, the existing CAD software can not put forward a suitable solution aiming at remote cooperative designing and knowledge acquirement (KA) in the designing course, and prevent designers from improving the efficiency and the quality of products designing. At present, it is also contradictory to the trend of network, informatization and intelligence of manufacturing industry.Therefore, the software environment platform should be established in which the cooperative designing and sharing information can be realized, and it is a important researching aspect of modern products designing method for implementing remote cooperative working.Based on analyzing the core architecture of remote cooperative designing and on the background of developing belt-drive remote designing system, the solution for remote mechanical designing system based on ASP (Active Server Pages) technology is researched in this paper by applying modem CAD technology, Web database technology and computer network technology. According to main character that ASP is driven by database, a method for controlling data flow in Web environment is discussed in this paper. From the theory and practices, the main achievements of the paper are as follows:(1) From the aspects of application, the implementing method of the belt-drive remote designing system is especially researched in this paper by its standard and principle. The main solution of remote mechanical design system based on ASP is put forward, and it can be used fora supporting system of general remote mechanical designing system.(2) From the architecture of system, this paper researched and implemented the 3-tiers architecture of building belt-drive remote designing system. Based on it, the technique principle and architecture of the remote cooperative designing system is analyzed and discussed.(3) From the web solution, the domain technology-ASP in web application is studied in this paper, and supporting environment for remote cooperative designing and sharing information is established by combining ASP, ADO technology, and database access technology through ODBC.(4) About applying COM and ActiveX technology, by means of VB, calculating and drawing modules are programmed in this paper and DWG drawings can be browsed. The general mode of programming COM components is analyzed. Through some example, the applications of OOP technology are also introduced,such as ADO, ActiveX, COM.(5) On the basis of analyzing the principle of the belt-drive in detail, a method of controlling data flow(DF) in general mechanics designing domain is put forward inWeb environment, including programmed data table, documented data table and formulized line graphics chart (curve fitting). Such method is very significant for disposing complex engineering data.(6) For the planning and building of web site, ASP dynamic web site has been built for belt-drive remote designing system. The method of plotting module function is investigated. In this Web site, some intelligent tip and input valid check works are laid on client side so that charge in the server side is alleviated. On the condition that network breadth is still bottleneck in the current network, this method effectively increases network transmitting rate.(7) Based on the theory and practice mentioned above, the belt-drive remote designing system is developed. By means of the key functions and specialties of the system described by the examples, the good feasibility and expandability of the prototype system has been proved.
