Outdoor Lighting Planning And Design In Urban Residential Area

Artificial illumination is of special significance to outdoor environment. However, for a long period, the outdoor lighting has not drawn sufficient attention, though the number of urban residential areas has been increasing at a dramatic speed: there is no specialized standard for living environment lighting design, no explicit planning conception and no effective design method. All those result in the poor environmental quality and lead to many illumination problems emerging one after another.The CIE No.92 publication, "Guide to the lighting of urban areas" has advanced some controlling standards and design methods specially aimed at residential outdoor lighting. This thesis is just under the guide of CIE principles and methods. After referring to a large number of documents both at home and abroad about residential illumination, and on the basis of a research on outdoor illumination facilities in average residential areas, a study on outdoor lighting and a mass psychological survey, this thesis presents some reference standards and some planning and design methods about the outdoor lighting in residential areas.
