| This thesis focuses on the development of ZOO3L CNC middle-large size CMMs. By way of studying merits of the most advanced bridge type CMMs (Coordinate Measuring Machines)all over the world the high speed and high performance L configuration CNC middle-large size bridge type CMMs with strokes over 2m have been developed independently and with the initiative in our own hands. These CMMs have been industrialized and commercialized successfully. ZOO3L series CMMs consist of three major components, machine body, CNC system and operational software. The main research topics in this thesis are as follows. Developing the machine body of high speed and high performance L configuration middle-large size bridge type CMMs (Usually it is called bare machine in machine tool industry which indicates its mechanical components).Introducing 32 bites CNC control system with high performance and reliability.Introducing the operation software suitable for the network integrating design, machining and inspection with CAD\CAM\CMM. Various types of experimental and finite element analyses were carried out during the design of main components. The influence of temperature on the CMM accuracy was studied. A detailed calibration test was conducted for the complete machine. The final test results show that ZOO3L CMM filled up the blank of high speed and high performance middle-large L configuration CMMs in China, and the machine body design achieved advanced level of the world. By using the modular design, a series of ZOO3L machines with strokes from 2m to 5m have been developed to satisfy the need of market. Being Integrated with the highest level control system B3C-LC and operation software PC-DMIS, ZOO3L CMM will become an important part of top level CMMs in domestic industry. |
