In the post-WTO period, China is under pressure due to demand on political, economic and legal system reforms. Given this background, it is obvious that setting up and improving the landscape law system is vital. The thesis, in response to this, analyzes problems of the current landscape laws and their development trend. It also provides suggestions on how to improve them.The thesis is divided into three parts. The first part, with a review on China's landscape law-making process, assesses the apparent deficiencies of the current system and subsequently, concludes an urgent need in its improvement. Suggestions which base on a study on urban landscape development trend are also made.In the second part, the author discusses the uses and positions of landscape laws as a sub-system in the construction law system. Understanding that landscape and urban planning laws are two-in-one systems, the author analyzes their complementary nature and suggests improvements for landscape laws relating to urban planning. In addition, environmental law system is studies to confirm its complementary relationship with landscape laws.Finally, based on the above studies and conclusions, the thesis proposes a plan to set up a landscape law system in China. Structure and functions of the system is elaborated.
