In the middle of 80s last century, the first generation stress calculation software for towers had come into being in China. It made engineers to throw away the trivial formulas and all kinds of mechanical calculation. Just by inputting some necessary information of nodes and elements, we can finish our work. The software improved our work efficiency and taken great effect until today. Based on DOS, complicated data structure and rigid filling mode all contributed to the difficulty for common engineers to master the software. And its function can't be far satisfied to designer's requirement because of limitation of computer's hardware and software at that time. So we apply language of DEPHI, FORTRAN, VBA and AUTOLISP to exploit an intelligent and professional software of FEA for self-erecting steel towers which combine requirement of real project and adopt mixed method of program. This paper has five chapters.In chap. 1,on the base of analyzing the development ,the class and the character and complicated design of transmission steel towers, the author express the importance of programming an intelligent and professional software of FEA for self-erecting steel towers, which is the paper need to settle down.In chap.2, the author introduces the theoretical base of the program in detail, and analyses the program's technique of internal force's calculation, pointing out some complicated question in the course of workout program. The followed research work is base on the explaining.In chap.3, the author introduces the approach of program; explains the main function and character of the program and some elementary regulation. Also, illuminating the profession, intelligence and automatism of program more.In chap.4, a typical format transmission steel tower of real project is selected and calculated by the program. We analyses the result and compare it again by all aspect. The result indicates that the program is very right.In chap.5, the author summarizes the research work and the result and points out some research destination of the program in the future.
