Recently, the proble river channel sand excavation came out increasingly in China, and the dyke safety was more and more concerned by local and central governments. The pape introduced the state of the art of the river channel sand excavation domestically, preliminary probed into primary factors that affected the dyke safety, taking into account the river channel sand excavation, and studied the case of the river channel sand excavation resulting in dyke hazard.The river channel sand exca★ation on a large scale appeared on rivers and lakes, the case of excavating sand on riverbed at random and excessively was discovered, as careless management, this case led riverbed change, and riverbed sinking could cause the risk of the dyke. Concerning the levee without shoal, riverbed sinking would result in the dyke safety factor reducing, so much as destroy.Secondly, discussed mostly the location of sandpits to the dyke affects the dyke safety, found out the critical distance of sandpits influnces the dyke by studing the connection of the sandpit location to the dyke safety factor.Finally, put forward the formula that calculates the safety distance of the sandpits location to the embankments.
