With the sustained, rapid and coordinated development of the national economy, the importance of water transport becomes more and more apparent. Because of the existence of shoals, the implementation of regulation works of navigation channels has changed the flow conditions of natural rivers, the flow factors near the shoals become more complex, so fluvial process analysis and regulation technology researches of the shoals in remediation rivers has important practical-significance.Study on the shoal evolution in river channels is an important component of the river dynamics, and is an essential work for proceeding the plan, design and management of hydraulic and waterway projects and for feasibility studies of the remediation works. Shoal evolution prediction is an important content of waterway engineering research. The evolution prediction of river shallows is an important means to understand the basic situations and the effect of channel improvement works. Fluvial process analysis is the theoretical basis for river remediation research. Navigation obstruction analysis of the river shoals can be aimed at the aspects of water level, flow rate, measured terrain data, and the evolution rules of shoals over the years.This paper selected Jinzhongqi river reach in the upper Yangtze river as the research object, and based on using the theories of hydraulics, river dynamics, sediment transport mechanics and related disciplines. Through collecting the hydrology and sediment data of the project watershed, the historical evolution, the recent evolution and the evolution trend of this reach was analyzed, the reasons for the navigation obstacle characteristics was also analyzed. The two-dimensional flow model was used to calculated flow characteristics of Jinzhongqi river reach, the regulation measures was determined on this basis. The characteristics of the sand and gravel shallows was analyzed, the remediation parameters and remediation program for Jinzhongqi shallow was determined. Through the river model test, the regulation effects were studied: daily regulation and flood discharge of Xiangjiaba water control project has little effect on navigable water conditions of Jinzhongqi reach, the navigation requirements can be meet, and a reference is provided for regulation of similar shoals in mountain rivers.
