Study On The Architecture Of The Zhuge Liang Temple At Mianxian

In ancient China it was one of the most important actives to offer sacrifices to gods or ancestors, so the memorial architectures have been attached in our national ancient architectural treasure-house. Ancestral temple is a kind of memorial architectures and it is the special place to offer sacrifices to ancestors that include loyal court official, honest and upright official, martyr, profession, hero and so on. The time of this style of architecture emerging in history is much earlier than that of Buddhist temple and that of Taoist palace, and there are many this kind of buildings which spread wildly. And it is attached by people as well as Buddhism temple and Taoist palace.The subject this dissertation studies is The Zhuge Liang Temple at Mianxian. The temple located Hanzhong, (which is the most important city in Three Kingdoms Period). It was builtby Liu Chan--the king of shu kingdom to offer sacrifices to Zhuge Liang who was a famouspolitician, militarist and strategist in Three Kingdoms Period . The architecture is a great and typologically complete complex. It is the earliest temple of Zhuge Liang in our country so it is considered the first temple of Zhuge Liang in our country. It has higher value of art and distinctive Shannan architectural style on the temple's location, layout and style. Therefore it has important historical significance and cultural significance that performing a study on this temple, especially on its protection and development.
