| This paper, addressing the problems brought about by the destruction in natural environment, the split-off in urban context , the global tendency towards the similarity in architectural style, goes on some analysis and research. With the architecture developing towards pluralism, a completed international and universal architectural style is not expected to be found. Therefore, it is rational to take "suitable" solutions to a variety of situations.This paper analyzes and studies the peculiarities and reflects of the building works of Glenn Murcutt, a well-known Australian architect, pritzkerprize winner.: firstly, from the total image, the works of Glenn Murcutt not only can effectively combine with the natural environment, applying "minimalism construction", making the destruction to the lowest degree, but also can embody the features of the historical context and the traditional culture, mixing the emotion with the building. Secondly, the simple and elegant detailing of the works can also satisfy the function. From his works, we can found out again the importance of detailing. Glenn Murcutt make fully use of technology and combine traditional materials with modern materials. He fuse beauty with nature^ emotion , and function, making these buildings interpret the Australian customs and the climate features in a totally new way.Through comparing the peculiarities of his works with the realities of our country, we can find out the value of his exploration and absorb some useful theories.Above all, this paper, with the analysis of relevant references and information, makes an approach to the development of Murcutt's personal style, his architectural image and vocabulary as well as is enlightenment for Chinese modern architecture. |
