As a high performance drive system making up SRM(Switched Reluctance Motor), power electronic switched circuit and driving controller, Switched Reluctance Motor Driving system(SRD) have a great development potentiality because its merits. But the problems of torque-ripple and noise affect its rapid development. Decreasing the torque-ripple and noise is one of key problems at present. Optimal power switch and drive circuit, improving system performance and simulation analyzing are main studying problems.This article primarily introduces the development of Switched Reluctance Motor and the structure and characteristics of Switched Reluctance Motor Driving System. The steady state characteristics of the SRM are simulated based on linear mathematical model and nonlinear mathematical model.The control methods are introduced and the hardware of the controller is designed. The controller uses the TMS320F240 as the main control unit and produces the on and off and PWM signal of each phase. Combined with protecting signal and current chopping signal, it can control the IGBT on and off. A novel power converter is presented and its parameters are calculated. In order to decrease torque-ripple and motor noise, the reason of torque-ripple is analyzed under traditional current chopping control. The method of double amplitude current chopping control is presented. The control software is programmed. The experiment waves of current and voltage of the motor are given and analyzed.
