With the accomplishment of high voltage network and connection between the grids, the faults of high voltage transmission line threaten the power systems' security and stability seriously. Fault disposal and restoration are based on the correct diagnosis results. So high voltage transmission line fault diagnosis and performance analysis are very important for security and stability of Power Systems.Fault recorder information is the foundation of fault diagnosis, one single fault recorder can not implement complex fault diagnosis. China Electric Power Systems Data net (CEDnet) is convenient for the connection between the fault recorders. However, nowadays power systems automation devices are not designed for network application. An Embedded Power Systems Dynamic Recorder (EPSDR) is proposed and designed in this thesis, which is suited to network application. Research and analysis of high voltage transmission line fault diagnosis based on EPSDR is involved in the thesis also. The main tasks of the thesis are as follows:1. Research and analysis the embedded technology (include embedded microprocessor, embedded OS, embedded Ethernet) and its application in power systems.2. Propose an Embedded Power Systems Dynamic Recorder3. Design a general data-processing platform which is suited to network application for automation devices4. Design an Embedded Power Systems Dynamic Recorder based on general data-processing platform5. Establish the framework of high voltage transmission line diagnosis based on EPSDRThe studies in the thesis show that the embedded technology is a proper approach to realize the network automation devices with low cost and high performance. They also show that the EPSDR is a reliable information source for fault diagnosis system and that will improve the diagnosis level greatly.
