Urban history conservation is a kind of one-up urban design method with the point of view of "conservation +development = sustainable development". The protection of historical buildings works as a basilic tache in urban history conservation. The paper study on the selection and control between listed buildings and cultural relic buildings, and new uses for old buildings in U .k . All of these will help on use for reference of our urban history conservation.Chapter 1 (the introduction) gives a review of the background and evolvement of urban history conservation, and point out that the built vernacular heritage protection plays a key role on the urban history conservation. Then it analysis the actuality and the problems in our urban history conservation. In this background, the paper confirms the research object , discussing its significance, introducing its content.The affirmance of our cultural relic buildings is a kind of appointment aiming at protection relic. With the development of our cities, a great deal of the built vernacular heritage are destroyed heavily without protection of cultural relic buildings .Chapter 2 compares the selection of listed buildings in U.K. and the appointment of cultural relic Buildings in P.R.C. ,which is propitious to our urban history conservation.Control plays a key role not only in listed buildings in U.K., but also in cultural relic Buildings in P.R.C. Chapter 3 compares the control between listed buildings in U.K. and cultural relic Buildings in P.R.C., and uses for reference in it.Aiming at the problem that the built vernacular heritage protection has single method , chapter 4 studies on the new uses for old buildings , and gives examples from space design format design landscape design.Finally, conclusions were drawn from this dissertation with recommendation for future research in chapter 5.
