The concrete faced rock-fill dam is attached increasingly to importance in the hydraulic construction field because of some advantages such as: small section, good safety, convenience of construction and low cost of construction etc. The concrete faced rock-fill dam, which is located in the cold area, during construction process, is needed to have localization and applicability. For example the concrete faced rock-fill dam in frigid zone is distinctive in terms of frost resistance and durability, cushion material seepage prevention and frost heave, adaptability of darn filling with season coordination among construction diversion, flood discharge and the whole construction schedule etc.LianHua construction which is situated in MuDanJiang basin of HeiLongJiangprovince firstly creates the successful record of construction of large-size faced rock-fill dam in frigid zone, a series of internal and external problems not having a precedent to go by have been solved. Advanced experience accumulated in construction is summarized and especially dam base excavating and treating, material making, quality method for dam filling and flattening, passing flood season method and construction of concrete face are discussed in this paper. Among them, working procedure optimization of construction of passing water gap in flood season in the same construction can be spread; utilization of experience that lime dusts are mixed with macadam to satisfy winner construction, difficult problem of short construction stage in the cold area can be solved, this experience has the popular adaptability.Base on data, distortion character of LianHua faced rock-fill dam body has been reappeared by non-linear Denken E-B model FEM analysis; at the same time, parameters in calculation accordant with model are adopted either in constructionstage or in storage period. Result of FEM analysis is coincident with fact in the main, as shows that this calculation model has the better adaptability of complicated loading on faced rock-fill dam and also shows that this dam's result of FEM analysis is reasonable and convinced as a whole.
