Concentrating on the questions and developmental directions of engineering structure reliability, the applicability of building steel structures that is studied relatively less is analyzed and studied.Briefly introduces the basic concept on engineering structure reliability and some practical calculation methods that are commonly used in the analysis of engineering structures. According to the design idea of "based on performance" from probability and the properties of practical calculation methods, the Monte Carlo finite element method used in analysis of engineering structure reliability is discussed. Analyzing the basic idea and realization process of Monte Carlo finite element method, it is approved by examples that the feasibility of the method.Because the regulation of deformation limits in some kinds of codes is mainly provided by experiences, not calibrated according with the Unified standard for reliability design of building structures (GB50068-2001). The applicability of present code for design of steel structures (GBJ17-88) is calculated and analyzed by Monte Carlo finite element method and traditional First Order Reliability method. It is approved that the Monte Carlo finite element method is right. The conclusion provides academic foundation for regulation of deformation limit, also can be referenced by design code revision.At present, it is hard to be used engineering reality that the study results of the analysis on the reliability for complex engineering structural system. Different from traditional study and analyses methods the reliability for complex building steel structures is contacted to its certain performance and analyzed by Monte Carlo finite element method. It is proved practical, can be look as attempt for the design way of "based on performance" from probability.In the end, the vibration that influences normal working and practical control and disposal methods are discussed. Steel crane grid widely used in building steel structures is measured and analyzed according one Engineering example. The conclusion can be referenced by design and design code revision. Give some advice for control the vibration that influences normal working. It assumes that the reliability for structural vibration is analyzed by Monte Carlo finite element method.
