As a syncretism of the elite of Chinese traditional architecture art and external culture, Chinese ancient pagoda is an outstanding representative of ancient high building. The existent ancient pagodas not only have the precious cultural relic value, but also have highly tour and sightseeing value. Along with the advance of social civilization, the protection and research to pagodas has become an important task. The developing modern technology is also promoting the protective work to turn into the science stage from the experience stage.In order to maintain and reinforce the pagodas, we must first evaluate structural safety, earthquake resistance and durability with the science attitude, but the reasonable analysis model is premise of the scientific evaluation. As to every building, the damage will affect the structural stiffness and change dynamic behavior, so we can build up reasonable analysis model by structural dynamic behavior.Combining with China-Italy science and technology cooperation project ''Measure Technology and Modeling Method on Dynamical Behavior of Ancient Buildings", this dissertation select a research object, HuQiu pagoda in Suzhou city, which is one with the longest age and largest gradient in the existing Chinese pavilion style pagodas, to study modeling technology on dynamic behavior of ancient masonry pagoda. In the research of the modeling technology, we combine the most advanced calculation technique with the testing technique together, compare the theoretic dynamic characteristic data with the testing result, then apply finite-element analysis software ANSYS to modify some restriction and parameter of the model, and inosculate the theoretic data and the trial result to get the reasonable analysis model.The aim of the dissertation is to study whether the modeling technology ondynamic behavior of ancient masonry pagodas is feasible for some ancient pagoda, which has complicated construction and serious damage. By adjusting model parameter, we will build up the dynamic analysis model. Thus we will make certain the damage of HuQiu pagoda, provide the reference for its earthquake-resistance appraise and reliability assessment, even for other similar ancient buildings' research further.Centering on the study of "combined modeling technology on dynamic behavior", some key technologies have be discussed are the follows:1. Survey and adjustment on parameters of the ancient masonry pagoda, and applying ANSYS to build up initial model.2. Analysis of affecting factors on dynamic behaviour of the ancient masonry pagoda. Building up the simple model, which is used for model parameter's identify.3. The critical testing technology and application of environmental random vibration to dynamic behavior of the ancient masonry pagoda.4. The modelling method of applying ANSYS to match model parameter according to the testing data.The research showed that combined modelling technology on dynamic behaviour can take full advantage of theoretical analysis and site testing. Thus the synthesis response of dynamic behaviour of the whole structure can be acquired, and the specific condition such as component joint, restriction, and damage in the model can be reflected. So this method is reliable and effective.
