| With the development of our national economy and improvement of people's living standards, highway traffic and transportation has been taking great development, as the demand of development of economy and society. During the construction and improvement of highway, to estimate the future traffic demand and traffic allot mode, and to program the construction scale and standard properly, will greatly benefit the effective utilization of the construction capital, and promote the development of national economy and society.The geometric model and computer programming of local highway network plays an important role in traffic estimate, as well as the calculation of shortcut and its reorganization. In the geometric model of highway network, since the traffic nodes of local network are always set in town and area with dense population, a conception of "weight" for traffic nodes were denoted in this paper, and the "node function" in dynamic allot of traffic were also used.For local highway network, there is always a long distance between two adjoint traffic nodes. Since the passing route in road nodes for choice is limited, passengers will have planed the whole routing well before they get off. So in the static and dynamic multi-path allot, the "one choice" allot method was used in this paper, of which the software design was much simplified comparing with multi-path and multi- choice allot method.According to the road traffic obtained in traffic observation papers, the variable OD can be estimated, which has been studying broadly. The genetic arithmetic and artificial neural network methods are also been applied in this research field, and advanced development is promising to obtain.The development of computer has provided great help for solution of the difficult computing problems in traffic estimate. On the same time., computer realization technology also has promising prospect in local highway network traffic estimate, which abstracts more and more people to do further research in it.
