Morphology Analysis Of Vernacular Architecture In Shangzhuang Village Of Yangcheng County

Exploiting the value of Vernacular Architecture is the purpose of Vernacular Architecture research (here in after refer to as VAR). There are many values in this research, for example, useful value, cognitive value, esthetic value, feelings value and wise value that stimulates architecture designers into new creations. Compact Community is basic morphology of Vernacular Architecture. Therefore, VAR begins with Compact Community.The object of my study is Compact Community in Shangzhuang Village of Yangcheng County in Shanxi province. There are three main parts in my study: the structure of Compact Community in Shangzhuang Village and the cause to form it, the space compose and art style of Dwellings, the protection and regeneration of Compact Community.Vernacular Architecture already exists hundreds of years. Many people make great efforts on it. Through these researches, I expect to provide a helpful method and inspiration for today's architectural creation.
