Siza has always said that he does not invent anything, he transforms. What gives this work winning qualities is its intense respect for context and the environment. This is also its most influential character and one from which many architects could learn. " -The reason also was what this paper want to know.This paper want to know the way Alvaro Siza deal with the architecture and environment, thought Siza' s work and his ideas, especially how to express the unity of the architecture and environment. From then on , we have well found it of a great practical significance to explore the nationality and the historicity that there should be in our architecture design so as to restore the national feature in architecture .This paper consists of six chapters, which fall into three sections. Section One (Chapter 1) clarifies the reason, the meaning the function in architecture design. It also discusses the proposal of the topics, the meaning and goal of the study, the current situation and the manner of today' s study, and the paper' s structure as well. Section Two (Chapter 2 to 4) deals with the main character which Alvaro Siza' project and the idea. Also clarifies that environment was the most important elemant in Siza' project.Section Three (Chapter 5 to 6 ) - a conclusive part-explains the fact that Siza' sconception of the environment in architectural activity exerts an influence on the world of architecture in the West, and it also summarizes the specific contribution made by Siza' s conception of environment in architectural activity to the western architecture design. It also indicates that Siza' s conception of environment in architecturalactivity suggested a clear way to us in developing our architecture.
