Based on review of hydraulic tunnel developments both domestic and abroad, the advance of computer aided design of the tunnel section lining is summarized, the visualization system of hydraulic tunnel section lining design is researched. Because the software is easier, and the calculating time is less, and the working load is reduced, designer can pay more attention to the comparison of schemes, which can produce more reasonable and economical results and can improve the design quality. The objective of this study is to improve computer aided design capacity and application efficiency of the software. The research method is to complete different function module using the advantage of softwares combined with design characteristics of hydraulic tunnel section, and connect them with the method of mixed programming. The research conclusions are as follows:1. The theory and its calculated methods of tunnel section design is researched in this paper, including the foundation and methods of the choice of profile and line types, and value and distribution of load, and the common calculated methods of lining structure.2. The pre- processor of visualization system is studied, including interface design, and data processing, and data control, and storage and transfer of data.3. The mathematics model and calculated methods of computing module of visible system is presented.4. The post- processor of visualization system is studied, including the display of chart and computing results, and drawing construction plan based on second development of AutoCAD.The common methods of realization of visualization in scientific calculation are suggested in this paper, and the calculation example in engineering indicates that the visualization system of hydraulic tunnel section lining design is practical and steady.
