Elevator is A perpendicular conveyance widely usded in high layer buildings nowadays. And it need not only comfortable riding, acorate stopping, convenience and rapidness, but also shortening the time of waiting elevator and reducing the time of maintaining elevator b ecause o f faults as far as possible.Applications of PLC and VWF technique on the elevator have greatly improved its movement quantity and dependability, but the traditional methods of discovering and handling the elevator faults are not enough efficient, because the faults cant be detected and handled by these means on time .In addition, the elevators of the different customers are distributed on the various regions, generally out of range of several ten kilometer, and even 100 kilometer far . It brings the maintenance and service of elevator into very great inconvenience. Therefore in order to solve this problem, it is urgent to Develop a new remote elevator monitoring system(REMS) that based on PC and microcontroller system . Through the public telephone network(PTN), REMS will monitor the movement status display of the elevator and caoiate its fault times and give alarms in case of fault ,the etc. The REMS decrease the maintaining and service personnels, furthermore ,it can find out faults in time, shorten the waiting time because of faults, and make the automatic management and the increasing of service quantity come true. In this paper, the remote monitor system of the elevator (REMS) is analyzed and studied Its hardware and software design is performed. The interface design of super computer and the dynamic display of elevator movement status are Completed the thesis describes the methods of improving the front terminal data-collecting system (front terminal) reliability in view of the hardware design, software structure ,and software program design and so on, too . According to the characteristics of the whole system ,a new way is put forward in the paper. Moreover, make use of the MSComm control in super computer to implement multi-process serial communicalioa The front terminal controls intelligent modem by AT order to implement communication of status data and setting parameters between frontterminal and PC by the PTN . In addition, the multi-task mechanism based on megsage-drived are introduced into the front terminal in order to vaHdly improve the system's constructure and strengthen the real-time respondence of system This paper can also adopt the expert system module embedded inside super computer to increase the accuracy of analyzing and judging elevator faults , and use OOP technique to establish faults knowledge base to make the later expanding of faults knowledge base and software maintaining possible, too. Finally by means of debugging the hardware and software ,it is further verified that REMS is feasible and effective.
