The Concrete Face Rock-fill Dam(CFRD) is favored day by day. But the creep deformation of the rock-fill body is rather distinct when CFRD is in use, therefore it has an obvious effect on the stress-strain state of the dam body, especially on that of the face. At present, studies related to this area are very few. Based on the prototype observing data of Xi Beikou CFRD, which is the first hundred-meter CFRD, this paper studies on the creep deformation of the rock-fill body by using the knowledge of math, mechanics and theory of dam engineering. The paper also makes comparative study on the three creep models of the rock-fill body and evaluates the practice of them comprehensively. The primary contents of the paper are as follows:1. This paper analyzes the cause of deformation and creep of the rock-fill body, studies the creep characteristics with the 3-component model and the 5-component model, and identifies the creep parameter with back analysis. Finally, these results are applied to a case engineering project.2. Considering the influencing factors on the deformation of the rock-fill body, the paper preliminarily studies the optimum statistic model of CFRD's settlement combing with national and international achievements. At the same time, the creep component is separated to identify the creep parameter.3. Statistic method and deterministic method are employed in this paper to identify the creep parameter and to deduce the expression of relationship between creep parameter and stress.4. Referring to the calculating results of the 4-component model, the feasibilities of the three models are compared, and the 3-component model is considered as the optimum creep model.
