The operating situation of Heller style air-cooling steam turbine-generator set is introduced in this paper, and the performance characteristics of the air-cooling system and the steam turbine are analyzed, especially some factors which are important for safely and economically running of the air-cooled steam turbine-generator system such as the back pressure safeguard of the air-cooling steam turbine system, the environmental temperature and environmental wind speed which are influential to the load of the air-cooling steam turbine-generator set, and some experimental investigations of a domestically made air-cooling steam turbine-generator set are introduced in this paper too.An application software are developed on the bases of theoretical analyses and experimental studies. This software are compiled in VC++ computer language. The main function of the application is to calculate the load limitation of an air-cooling steam turbine-generator set under distinct flux of cooling water, environmental temperature and environmental wind speed, and the back pressure safeguard curve of the target steam turbine are considered. The application can operate on line and the result of this application is useful for safely and economically running of the set.
