Along with the deep developing of Reform & Opening and the unceasing perfection of socialist market economy in China, reform of the railway system adapting market is going on. The reform mode of Separating Rail Infrastructure from Operation can solve correlative difficult problems of the reform of railway transportation industry and boost the reform of railway system. It is an appropriate recombination mode of railway transportation enterprises. This thesis is based on this background.In this thesis, following works are carried out mainly:1. Expatiate the mode of Separating Rail Infrastructure from Operation and point out that it is the chief mode of railway system reform.2. Present the characteristics of carrying capacity on mode of Separating Rail Infrastructure from Operation to show that traditional calculation methods of carrying capacity cannot adapt the new situation.3. Based on the architecture of the train diagram, analysis the two key factors, the minimum interval and buffer time, which affect the carrying capacity.4. Present the concept of carrying capacity under the condition of Separating Rail Infrastructure from Operation and establish the calculation model of several kinds of capacity which are carrying capacity, minimum carrying capacity, restrictive carrying capacity, golden time carrying capacity, rush hour carrying capacity and usual time carrying capacity.5. Based on analyzing the relation between proportion of passenger train and quality of train running, the calculation model of rational amount of passenger train running in golden time is set up.6. Apply the new carrying capacity on the Xiangyu line from Ankang to Chongqing, and calculate the carrying capacity of 2005, 2010 and 2015. At last propose the advice of improving the capacity on the section.In this paper, with researching the carrying capacity under the condition of Separating Rail Infrastructure from Operation and considering the current situation of our state railway, the new calculation method of carrying capacity is presented. This method can not only exert the efficiency of railway equipments but alsoguarantee the quality of train running. It can offer some theory reference for calculation and application of carrying capacity after Separating Rail Infrastructure from Operation will have been done.
