The bus has a series of advantages of high energy saving, less road occupation, low pollution and so on, and it is a travel mode that city should vigorously promote and advocate.In small and medium-sized cities, however, speed up the solution to the problem of the bus is impending, because of the Increasingly prominent problems and kinds of trials.The combination of big data and the bus is the combination of modern information technology and traditional service industry, it is the trend of the information age, and has a great advantage. Not only can better analyzingthe collected data to help scientifically setting bus lines, flight, etc., but also applied the processed data to the service of citizens to make people take a bus more convient, more happie and more enjoy. The application of big data on the bus is the future of the entire transportation and is an important support to improve services.In this paper, direct at the bus of small and medium-sized city, author apply big data to the bus and use service design method to conducted a series of research and did the corresponding improvements. First of all, this paper research the concept, characteristics and influence of each other about the big data,bus and service design, then dicussed and found the present situations and problems to trigger off relevant thinking. Secondly,according to people’s psychological demand, summarized and analyzed several suitable principles and methods to the service design of bus, and illustrated the application of these principles and methods on the bus. At the same time, analyzed the differences between the two modes of information era and traditional, and found conclusion finally. Last but not least, through a lot of research and in-depth research, author analyzed and summarized the survey data, and then found the pain points that the bus in the small and medium-sized city could not balance the long waiting time from citizensand thelow utilization rate from the bus.Through the study of this article, we can draw the following conclusions:the bus service mode is the combining of big data and service design, the big data is the premise and guarantee for supporting service design. Under the background of big data, sovle the related problems of small and medium-sized city through the design to make people get a better service, higher trip and life quality and have a better effect on development of city bus.
