With the development of the economic and the improvement of people’s living level, city’s water supply situation has become more severe,the nearest water can’t meet the needs of people’s water needs.Now we had to take along distance water, and cross basin water transfer mode, to solve the water demand of people’s production and life. Due to long distance water transfer project, once water hammer accident happens in the pipeline, it often brings enormous losses. Correct analysis andaccurate prediction of water hammer,Reasonable selection of protective measures, is the key to optimize the engineering design, to ensure the safe operation of the project.This paper introduces the basic principle and method of the calculation of hydraulic transition process,combined with engineering practice,through the calculation and analysis of water hammer in Qi Taihe,determine the best method of water hammer protection, and the parameters, performance and other details of the water hammer protection device.In this paper, we show that analysis and calculation of water hammer in pumping station and long distance water delivery pipeline, and take corresponding protective measures, such as the combination of the two stage valve closed, pressure regulating tower, air valve and other protective measures,can play the best protective effect of water hammer.
