Application Of Ecological Design In Hotel Interior Design

In modern society, population, resource and environment are the three key issues in the development of human society. In particular, the resource and environment issues have become the key issues which affect the sustainable development of human. The international community has become more and more aware of the impact of products on the environment regarding the rules and regulations, business operation, trade and consumption. Energy is an essential resource of social development, In recent years, China has gained quick economic development. However, continuous development of energy has resulted in many serious environmental issues while bringing huge wealth to human society, such as air pollution, ecological damage, etc, which directly affect the sustainable development of economy and human society. So we have to reconsider the way how we use energy and improve the efficiency of energy utilization. Under this circumstances, the concept of ecological design of product emerged. Modern hotel, as a kind of product, is the commercial public space to offer travelers a combined service of dining, accommodation, traffic, entertainment and shopping. It is also one the three pillars of tourism and plays a leading role in people’s life. In the21century with the theme of ecology, environment protection, green and health, how should we better apply the concept of ecological design into hotel design and offer people a more healthy and comfortable travel living environment in order to save more energy and protect the environment around us? The article firstly introduces the concept and current situation of hotel interior design and ecological design, analyzes the importance of applying the ecological design into hotel interior design, analyzing by taking the example of Beijing Yanqi Lake Kempinski Hotel. Then the author raises the key issue of how to apply ecological design into hotel interior design and analyzes from three aspects:material ecology design, spiritual ecology design and green material, Finally, the author summarizes the whole article based on the analysis ahead and looks into the future of hotel design industry.
