As the technology of photovoltaic power station becoming more and more mature, the residential photovoltaic power generation industry presents a boom. This system is a special power generation system: on the one hand, it is affected by environmental and the equipment operation conditions; on the other hand, it is usually installed at the roof of house or building, the special environment of the installation results in the inconvenience of real-time monitoring the system. How to convert solar energy into electric energy with low cost and high efficiency is the main study direction of researchers. The control and monitor system of the residential photovoltaic power station could monitor the real-time running state and timely maintain the equipments, therefore ensure system’s power generation with low cost and high efficiency. So it has important significance to develop the residential photovoltaic power station monitoring system.Taking a 1500 W residential photovoltaic power station system as an example, the residential photovoltaic power station monitoring system was researched and developed based on the internet and WSN wireless sensor network in this paper, and the GPRS wireless communication technology was used based on RS485 communication and Web publishing technology to realize remote wireless monitoring for the 1500 W residential photovoltaic power station system. The system selected GPRS wireless communication module with the MODBUS standard protocols and CRC16 calibration technique, and IIS5.0 as Web publishing tools. It used two development patterns: monitoring interfaces adopted modular development mode, and the background database used parallel development pattern.Two residential photovoltaic power station monitoring systems were developed based on the different methods of communication: 1) one system which used RS485 as the way of communication between controllers(DTU) and PC. It could be applied to the station which the installation environment is simple and the DTUs are close to the PC. 2) another system which used GPRS wireless communication, therefore it could be applied widely. The both monitoring systems had realized the function to remotely monitor the PV power station. Specific development in this paper contains following several aspects:(1) Set of the design scheme. First of all, the research background of the significance and development trend was briefly introduced. Second, the function of monitoring software was determined, and then data and the software of development were collected through the analysis of the photovoltaic power station and the characteristics of monitoring system. Finally, the implementation plan of the photovoltaic power station monitoring system was made.(2) The system of residential photovoltaic power station monitoring system was designed based on the Internet and WSN. According to the design scheme, five modules such as the client design, application server design, database design, wireless communication system design and program publishing were developed.(3) The experimental platform was set up for test. The experiment show that the residential photovoltaic power station monitoring system developed in this paper meets the design requirements.
