A Survey Of Modern Architectural Heritage In

Modern architecture heritage of Chengdu is physical witness of Chengdu’s modern history, which has a significant meaning for this historical and cultural city. In terms of the overall development history, modern architecture of Chengdu can be regarded as the transition phase or connecting link from traditional architecture to contemporary architecture, which is also an important part of its development chain.With the promotion of city construction, the disappearance of a large amount of architectures has attracted broad attention, so how to protect, and utilize a limited number of architectures has become a realistic problem. This paper counts the overall number and type of Chengdu’s modern architectures based on field study, and carries out analysis at all levels of the conservation& utilization situation. What’s more, it conducts an initial exploration into the conservation& utilization of valuable modern architectures.This paper firstly explains the concepts of modern architecture heritage, and defines its time range and geographic scope. In addition, the background and conditions are analyzed while the development history of all stages is also reviewed. Furthermore, it reviews Chengdu modern architecture heritage and carries out statistical analysis in terms of number distribution, building type, conservation& utilization and architecture features.This paper aims to list the conservation situation and outstanding problems according to the overall analysis of modern architecture heritage. For example, Chengdu lags behind in terms of protection and utilization knowledge. There are flaws and limitations in protection policies. Besides, city development is under great pressure and city planning is poorly protected while the management mechanism and institutions remain to be perfected because the maintenance technology and supervision are ineffective to some extent.
