Internet of Things has become the hot spots of the world science&technology and industrial competitiveness. China has also taken Internet of Things as one of the five strategic emerging industries that are the state’s key industries of development. Constructing the intelligent highway infrastructure based on technologies of Internet of Things is an effective way and the inevitable choice to improve the supervision level and operational efficiency of the highway network. However, along with the rapid expansion of the highway network in China, operational efficiency of the highway network is still limited. The reason is that there are bottlenecks of the key technologies, equipments and products, and a highly integrated operational monitoring and feedback control platform of highway network is not formed yet on the aspects of highway network operation status monitoring, travel information service and network reconstruction.Against the above background, the current problems of Internet of Things in Transportation are analyzed firstly. From the actual needs of our highway network operation monitoring, the highway network operation monitoring system based on Internet of Things is established subsequently, and the real-time monitoring, data transfer and information services of highway network operation status and road weather environment are studied. Combining the advantages of network toll system, traffic information submitted system and the national road network operation monitoring and emergency response system etc., the overall framework of highway network operation monitoring system is proposed. The proposed system and framework meet the actual demand of data acquisition, highway network monitoring and the public transportation information services in daily highway network monitoring, and initially establishes of the highway network operation monitoring system based on Internet of Things. This system not only satisfies the monitoring management of highway network managers, but also achieves the integration and innovation of highway network operation monitoring businesses and technologies, and improves the effectiveness of highway operation management and the efficiency of transportation information technology. |
