When the global economic integration sweeping across the whole world, the image characteristics of the influence of the urban forms look much like the same. The regional culture of the cities in our country has been intense impacted by the internationalization mode in urban renewal movement. Furthermore, the city images may face a harsh characteristic crisis.Commercial pedestrian street is a part of the urban spatial form, it also affected by the city characteristic crisis."Commercial pedestrian street"is a kind of urban public spatial form which combines commercial and leisure characteristics. It's a special kind of the urban public space. It has not only a long history of the culture, but also the quality of space and the meaning of place in the city image aspects. More important, the city regional culture which contains in the commercial pedestrian street is the important cornerstone to raise the city spiritual and level construction. If there is no culture in the urban spatial shape, it is no vitality. It will die out in history. If we bring the commercial culture into the city regional culture by the commercial pedestrian street, it will not only raise the level of the commercial culture, but also prosper the development of social economic. It will lead the urban economy and culture towards harmonious. Because of the accelerating process of urbanization, it leads a series of problems in the urban renewal movement, such as follow the standards, every street look the same, lose the regional characteristics. So the foundation of the commercial pedestrian street which has a regional characteristic has a great practical significance to the extension of the urban culture and the regression of the urban characteristic.The breakthrough point of this paper is the value and meaning of the regional culture in urban form which based on its academic platform to research the space form of the commercial pedestrian street. By using the academic research methods of fieldwork, literature collection, system analysis and deduction which combine the humanistic spirit, space theory, urban imagery theory to analysis the physical factors, landscape factors and humanistic factors of the present commercial pedestrian street in our country. The aim is to reveal the strategies which contain the space design of the commercial pedestrian street and the expression of the regional characteristic: First, the explanation of the life status, the expression of the landscape features and the reflection of the characteristic value of the"design goal". Second, the adjustability of measures to local conditions, the gambling between new and old, the unification between overall and diversification of the"design principles". Third, the design of interface, the design of space form, the design of landscape facility etc. By using these strategies, we can reach some characteristic targets. Above all, the foundation of a commercial pedestrian street which has characteristics of regional culture is good to the sustainable development of the urban culture, the rebuilding of the city image characteristics and the development of the urban economy and culture. It is the important link of the urban characteristic construction.
